The $1 Badge Buddy Story... 

For those of you who don’t know her, this is my mom, Kelly. She’s a Grade A bad a-s mom and for years has been a stitching contributor to the My Fair Ellie team. If you have a collection of badge buddies, then you own one of her creations.

In early July, at a routine mammogram, the radiologist located a suspicious area and sent my mom for a biopsy. One week after that biopsy we learned that my mom has Triple Negative Breast Cancer - an aggressive type of breast cancer that lacks estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors and HER2 proteins.

We were devastated.

But over the course of this past week, we’ve started appointments with her care team in an effort to make a treatment plan. We’ve met nurses, physicians, residents, social workers, patient service reps, lab techs, radiology techs, nurse practitioners and more. They have not just given us a plan, but also given us so much hope in this journey. We’ve sprinkled them with badge buddies along the way and have really enjoyed seeing their personalities shine in their MFE badge reels. They’ve laughed with us, hugged us, dried our tears, rubbed our backs and kept us on the path towards healing.

Between doctors visits mom talked about how we could use the shop to spread awareness about the importance of mammograms. She suggested a badge buddy that someone might look at and think “Gosh, I need to schedule my mammogram” when they see it. **CUE THE HONKERS**

So for the next month, we’ll be offering CHECK YOUR HONKERS buddies for just $1 in the shop. My mom is personally stitching every single one of them - seriously, such a bad a-s. Our hope is that the test that saved my mom’s life will be at the front of everyone’s mind - GET YOUR MAMMOGRAM!
